Torn has not been an official band for about 2 years now. But 4 of the founding members still get together and put on shows from time to time. All of the members of Torn have gone on to play with other local bands and still perfrom quite frequently. Rick Castillo is presently playing out with a band called HotSpot that was formed from members of Dipstick, and Edge of Reason. Jerry Stark is now playing in a classic rock band called No Exit with some of his long term friends. Both James Lange and Craig Marshall took off and formed Synergy about a year and a half ago performing 12-14 times a month. Omar Gomez joined a variety band called the Slags which is very successful and stays very busy. But in the guys hearts the band never died completely and they still do shows which turn out to be more like family reunions. The magic never went away even though one brother no longer plays with them they say "It still feels awesome to perform with each other".

What's up party people and tornaholics it has been a month or more since we updated our news on here so bear with us I guess we are kind of getting lazy about it. We have allot of shows at some new and really cool clubs coming up in June and August so be sure to check our calendar for updates. Also added to the site under the music page are 5 new demo songs that will be in our up coming promo packs including our version of Baby got back a crowd favorite. Some of the others songs are by Los Lonely boys, Black Crowe's, Maroon 5 and last but not least Weezer one of our favorite bands. We will be adding some new material this month also from ACDC and possibly a Cypress Hill song. Please remember we have a forum where you can post song suggestions and give us shout outs at your leisure. Also we can't stress enough how much fun we have been having playing at Woody's Pub that place is a great time every time.

Welcome back tornaholics, we would like to thank Lori and the gang over at Woody's Pub for making our first gig over there a memorable one. That night we were asked to play a small outside festival they are throwing on Saturday May the 21th. The show starts at 2pm and goes into the late evening with a variety of great local Houston bands. Torn will be preforming first that day at 2pm so be sure to get there early so you don't miss us. Also if you can't catch us that afternoon be sure to check us out that evening over at Pennison's 2 Copperfield that show starts at 9:30pm. As for the demo as mentioned a few news letters back, we are almost finished with all the recording and are about to start mixing a mastering to be able to complete the audio side of our promo pack. We recorded 5 songs from our 75+ song set list ones that we think shows not only our diversity but our style.
In other news we have for the last month been running our own sound and lights at numerous club locations to very receptive crowds that I quote say "Your Sound Kicks Ass!" Almost all of this is due to our guitarist Craig for doing the homework and figuring out how to run our sound like a pro. We would like to thank our soundman in training Mr. Yimmie aka: Jimbo for taking on the task of working with Craig to be our full time sound guy. We would like to thank Barb Jerry's wife and Omar junior for watching the sliders this last saturday the club said that we rocked Woody's harder than it had been in a long time. On the song learning front the new ones that we have chosen are for the most part new dance and retro hits from the 80's and also a new radio song. Not going to give the names of the songs but the artists we covered were Billy Idol, U2 and the Cure.

We're back and ready to kick some serious ass. We got a great surprise at our last gig with the awesome news of Mr. Rick Castillo nuptials to Mrs. Lisa Castillo. We wish them all the best and hope their marriage is a very happy one filled with lots of love and many years together. Also TORN would like to thank everyone who stuck beside us and helped us get through some pretty tough months. As some of you know, Torn had split into two different bands in February and now have reformed with the original lineup. We plan to get right back on track and try to make up for some lost time by learning a lot of new material. Also, on the agenda is to get out a little more with some newer venues, such as Sam's Concert Bar, Sherlock's, and Sam's Boat. Please, be sure to sign up for our mailing list, located on our info page, to keep up with our shows, dates, and what's going on at the Torn camp. The Website is up again, and it will be receiving a new facelift in the next few weeks. Suggestions are always welcomed.

We would like to start off this newsletter by welcoming the newest addition to the TORN lineup Javier Garza. Javier has been playing and performing for 15+ years in the Houston area in numerous cover and original bands. We are very fortunate to have found such a good musician and friend, and can hardly wait to play our next gig with him. In other news we have been adding more material every week and hope that people will warm up to our new sound and energy we have with our new members. Krissy is now the bands official contact for booking questions and general info and she is doing a great job. So to book any shows or parties please contact her by clicking here or by calling the Dennis Lange Agency and talking to Lonnie Posey at 713-22-SOUND. Thank you everyone who came out to Pennison's Sugarland to support the first gig with our new line-up. Krissy got up and stole the show not only with her incredible singing voice but also her radiant beauty and stage presence. Stephen of course blew everyones mind with his excellent drumming. Please be sure to sign our guestbook and forums to let us know what you think of our band. Also with the Addition of a female vocalist this opens up a whole new genre of music and we will be adding new female sung songs to our set list. Please feel free to suggest some new songs on our forums and we will try to accomidate you. New songs that have already been added are: "Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns & Roses, "One Way or Another" - Blondie and "Creep" by Radiohead.

TORN is, once again, up and going at 100 percent with the addition of our newest member and Vocalist Krissy Clark. Krissy is a very seasoned vocalist with over 10 years of recording and performing live in the music scene. Like our last vocalist Rick, Krissy has an excellent voice and wide range that allows her to sing a lot of different styles such as: Journey, Creed, Alice in Chains, Blondie, Metallica, and many more. We would like to thank all of the vocalists that auditioned over the last few weeks and to let them know it was a hard decision, since we saw many talented guys and girls. We will be spending the next weeks rehearsing and revamping our show for the literal onslaught of gigs coming in the future months. So, be checking our calendar for new shows, for we will be spreading our Tornography to the masses!
*Web site updates* as of January the 3rd there are 2 new photo gallery's of the last two shows we played with the old line up. Also, new member bio pages are being added very soon to introduce our newest members to all the Torn fans out there. Be sure to sign up for our forums to be able to talk to us and ask us questions on a daily basis, not to mention request your favorite songs for us to learn. Also be sure to sign our guestbook and let everyone know who our friends and fans are out there.
Take Care and Happy Valentines Day: James, Craig, Omar, Stephen, and Krissy.
January 27, 2005
A lot has happened in the Torn world in the past few days. This news will be letting you know the future of the band and where it goes from here. Torn has parted ways with Drummer - Jerry Stark and Vocalist - Rick Castillo and will be performing one last gig with the original lineup this Friday, January, 28th at Pennison's 2 Copperfield. Torn is regrouping and holding auditions for a new Vocalist and would like to welcome as of January, 26th, its new drummer, - Stephen Vance formerly of Gravel and the Reds. Craig, Omar, and James would like all the Torn fans to know that it will be hard to replace such excellent musicians as Jerry and Rick. But, with hard work and determination they plan to continue forward with TORN and continue to make it a driving force in the Houston music scene. Singers wanting to audition should call this number, (281) 225-9780, to set up an audition and get a current set list of material. We are looking for a singer with a good range and excellent stage presence willing to perform (12-16) times a month. Some out of town shows on the weekend may be required and vocalist must be able to learn material very quickly and be willing to perform within a few days notice. We perform a wide variety of music styles: Dance, Rock, Blues, Classic Rock, 80's Retro and a fair amount of brand new pop and Alternative radio hits.
Once again, thanks for visiting www.tornrocks.com and Take Care James, Craig, Omar, Stephen.

Happy 2005 all you torn fans out there! We are back and ready to keep spreading our tornography to the masses. We had a blast at Pennison's 2 Copperfield on New Years Eve playing for everyone and celebrating the birth of yet another great new year. Of course we celebrated the event with a Champaign toast at midnight and boogying till 2 in the morn. We also had a guest vocalist Kelly Carpenter from the national band Outworld come up and dazzle us with his vocals by singing "Man in the Box" that made peoples jaw drop in awe at his wonderful singing voice. Please take the time to check out his original band linked up above to hear some of thier soon to be released album tracks.
Last Night was our first gig of the New Year and I must say it looks like we are gonna have a good one. We performed at what I think is becoming one our favorite north side clubs Rookies Sports bar. Rookies for those of you who haven't been there is a cool little sports bar located off of Rayford and Sawdust in the Woodlands. The bar might be small in size but its patrons really know how to rock and have a good time. Click here to visit Rookies website on the world wide web.
Website Updates: 2 New picture gallery's are posted in our photo section. Newly added tornrocks.com guestbook where you people can leave us shout outs and let us know who our fans are.
Once again, thanks for visiting www.tornrocks.com and Take Care James, Craig, Rick, Jerry, Omar.
